Embarcadero RAD Studio provides a development environment for Delphi and C++Builder applications. With the CData ODBC Driver for SAP ByDesign, you gain access to live SAP ByDesign data within RAD Studio, abstracting the data into tables, views, and stored procedures that can be used to both retrieve SAP ByDesign data. This article will walk through connecting to SAP ByDesign using the Data Explorer.
If you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.
Set the following connection properties to connect to SAP ByDesign.
You can create a simple application for displaying SAP ByDesign data by utilizing the CData FireDAC Components for SAP ByDesign and a new VCL Forms Application:
Create a new VCL Forms application and drag a view (for example: [Inventory Balance]) onto the form.
๐ Placing the View on the Form. (Salesforce is shown.)Right-click on the object, bind visually, and link everything (*) to a new control (TStringGrid).
๐ Visually Binding the View. (Salesforce is shown.)Arrange the TStringGrid on the form and run the application to see the [Inventory Balance] data.
๐ The View data on a Form. (Salesforce is shown.)Below you can find other articles for using the CData ODBC Driver with RAD Studio, Delphi, and C++ Builder.

๐ SAP ByDesign IconThe SAP ByDesign ODBC Driver is a powerful tool that allows you to connect with live data from SAP ByDesign, directly from any applications that support ODBC connectivity.
Access SAP ByDesign data like you would a database - read, write, and update SAP ByDesign Customers, Products, Leads, Suppliers, etc. through a standard ODBC Driver interface.
