Tableau is a visual analytics platform transforming the way businesses use data to solve problems. This article shows how to connect to SAP Netweaver Gateway in Tableau Prep and build a simple chart.
The CData Tableau Connectors enable high-speed access to live SAP Netweaver Gateway data in Tableau. NOTE: The CData Tableau Connectors support Tableau Prep Builder 2020.4.1 or higher. If you are using an older version of Tableau Prep Builder, you will need to use the CData JDBC Driver.
When you install the CData Tableau Connector for SAP Netweaver Gateway, the installer should copy the TACO and JAR files to the appropriate directories. If your data source does not appear in the connection steps below, you will need to copy two files:
Open Tableau Prep Builder and click "Connect to Data" and search for "SAP Netweaver Gateway by CData." Configure the connection and click "Sign In."
SAP Gateway allows both basic and OAuth 2.0 authentication. You can use basic authentication to connect to your own account, or you can use OAuth to enable other users to retrieve data from your service with their accounts. In addition to authenticating, set the following connection properties to access SAP Gateway tables.
In basic authentication, you use your login credentials to connect. Set the following properties:
You can connect to SAP Gateway using the embedded OAuth connectivity (without setting any additional authentication connection properties). When you connect, the OAuth endpoint opens in your browser. Log in and grant permissions to complete the OAuth process. See the OAuth section in the online Help documentation for more information on other OAuth authentication flows.

π Selecting table(s)To further prepare the data, you can implement filters, remove duplicates, modify columns and more.
Data joining involves combining data from two or more related tables based on a common field or key.
After you perform any cleansing, filtering, transformations, and joins, you can export the data for visualization in Tableau.
Once the output data is saved, you can work with it in Tableau, just like you would any other file source.
