Nintex Workflow Cloud is a cloud-based platform where you can design workflows to automate simple or complex processes using drag-and-drop interactions β without writing any code. When paired with CData Connect AI, you get instant, cloud-to-cloud access to ServiceNow data for business applications. This article shows how to create a virtual database for ServiceNow in Connect AI and build a simple workflow from ServiceNow data in Nintex.
CData Connect AI provides a pure, cloud-to-cloud interface for ServiceNow, allowing you to build workflows from live ServiceNow data in Nintex Workflow Cloud β without replicating the data to a natively supported database. Nintex allows you to access data directly using SQL queries. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc.) directly to ServiceNow, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return the requested ServiceNow data.
CData simplifies access and integration of live ServiceNow data. Our customers leverage CData connectivity to:
Many users access live ServiceNow data from preferred analytics tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Excel, and use CData solutions to integrate ServiceNow data with their database or data warehouse.
Connectivity to ServiceNow from Nintex is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with ServiceNow data from Nintex, we start by creating and configuring a ServiceNow connection.
ServiceNow uses the OAuth 2.0 authentication standard. To authenticate using OAuth, register an OAuth app with ServiceNow to obtain the OAuthClientId and OAuthClientSecret connection properties. In addition to the OAuth values, specify the Instance, Username, and Password connection properties.
See the "Getting Started" chapter in the help documentation for a guide on connecting to ServiceNow.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to ServiceNow data from Nintex Workflow Cloud.
The steps below outline creating a new connection to ServiceNow data from Nintex (via Connect AI).
With the connection to CData Connect AI configured, we are ready to build a simple workflow to access ServiceNow data. Start by clicking the "Create workflow" button.
Once you configure the actions, click "Save," name the Workflow, and click "Save" again. You now have a simple workflow that will query ServiceNow using SQL and sand an email with the results.
