This article shows how you can easily integrate the CData JDBC driver for ServiceNow into your processes in RapidMiner. This article uses the CData JDBC Driver for ServiceNow to transfer ServiceNow data to a process in RapidMiner.
CData simplifies access and integration of live ServiceNow data. Our customers leverage CData connectivity to:
Many users access live ServiceNow data from preferred analytics tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Excel, and use CData solutions to integrate ServiceNow data with their database or data warehouse.
You can follow the procedure below to establish a JDBC connection to ServiceNow:
jdbc:servicenow:
cdata.jdbc.servicenow.ServiceNowDriverπ The JDBC driver configuration. (Salesforce is shown.)
ServiceNow uses the OAuth 2.0 authentication standard. To authenticate using OAuth, register an OAuth app with ServiceNow to obtain the OAuthClientId and OAuthClientSecret connection properties. In addition to the OAuth values, specify the Instance, Username, and Password connection properties.
See the "Getting Started" chapter in the help documentation for a guide on connecting to ServiceNow.
For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the ServiceNow JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.
java -jar cdata.jdbc.servicenow.jar
Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.
π Using the built-in connection string designer to generate a JDBC URL (Salesforce is shown.)A typical connection string is below:
OAuthClientId=MyOAuthClientId;OAuthClientSecret=MyOAuthClientSecret;Username=MyUsername;Password=MyPassword;URL=https://myinstance12345.service-now-com;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;
You can now use your ServiceNow connection with the various RapidMiner operators in your process. To retrieve ServiceNow data, drag the Retrieve operator from the Operators view.
π A Retrieve operation to select data. (Salesforce is shown.)
With the Retrieve operator selected, you can then define which table to retrieve in the Parameters view by clicking the folder icon next to the "repository entry." In the resulting Repository Browser, you can expand your connection node to select the desired example set.
Finally, wire the output to the Retrieve process to a result, and run the process to see the ServiceNow data.
