Reveal, an offering from Infragistics, serves as a data visualization tool that seamlessly integrates with CData Connect AI. Together, they empower users to deliver dynamic dashboards using real-time data from a diverse range of data sources, including SharePoint data. In this article, we will guide you through the process of connecting to SharePoint via Connect AI and subsequently linking Connect AI with Infragistics Reveal to construct a straightforward dashboard.
Accessing and integrating live data from SharePoint has never been easier with CData. Customers rely on CData connectivity to:
Most customers rely on CData solutions to integrate SharePoint data into their database or data warehouse, while others integrate their SharePoint data with preferred data tools, like Power BI, Tableau, or Excel.
For more information on how customers are solving problems with CData's SharePoint solutions, refer to our blog: Drivers in Focus: Collaboration Tools.
To work with live SharePoint data in Infragistics Reveal, we need to connect to SharePoint from Connect AI, provide user access to the connection, and create a Workspace for the SharePoint data.
CData Connect AI uses a straightforward, point-and-click interface to connect to data sources.
Set the URL property to the base SharePoint site or to a sub-site. This allows you to query any lists and other SharePoint entities defined for the site or sub-site.
The User and Password properties, under the Authentication section, must be set to valid SharePoint user credentials when using SharePoint On-Premise.
If you are connecting to SharePoint Online, set the SharePointEdition to SHAREPOINTONLINE along with the User and Password connection string properties. For more details on connecting to SharePoint Online, see the "Getting Started" chapter of the help documentation
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
After connecting to SharePoint, create a workspace for your desired table(s).
With the connection, PAT, and Workspace configured, you are ready to connect to SharePoint data from Infragistics Reveal.
With Connect AI configured, we can visualize SharePoint data in Reveal.
At this point, you have created a simple dashboard from live SharePoint data. For more information on creating OData feeds from SharePoint (and more than 100 other sources), visit the Connect AI page. Sign up for a free trial and start working live SharePoint data in tools that consume OData APIs.
