CData Connect AI, enables you to access Sugar CRM data from cloud-based applications like the Salesforce console and mobile applications like the Salesforce Mobile App. In this article, you will use CData Connect AI and Salesforce Connect to access external Sugar CRM objects alongside standard Salesforce objects.
To work with live Sugar CRM data in Salesforce Connect, we need to connect to Sugar CRM from Connect AI, provide user access to the connection, and create a Workspace for the Sugar CRM data.
CData Connect AI uses a straightforward, point-and-click interface to connect to data sources.
The User and Password properties, under the Authentication section, must be set to valid SugarCRM user credentials. This will use the default OAuth token created to allow client logins. OAuthClientId and OAuthClientSecret are required if you do not wish to use the default OAuth token.
You can generate a new OAuth consumer key and consumer secret in Admin -> OAuth Keys. Set the OAuthClientId to the OAuth consumer key. Set the OAuthClientSecret to the consumer secret.
Additionally, specify the URL to the SugarCRM account.
Note that retrieving SugarCRM metadata can be expensive. It is advised that you store the metadata locally as described in the "Caching Metadata" chapter of the help documentation.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
After connecting to Sugar CRM, create a workspace for your desired table(s).
With the connection, PAT, and Workspace configured, you are ready to connect to Sugar CRM data from Salesforce Connect.
Follow the steps below to connect to the feed produced by Connect AI.
After you have created the external data source, follow the steps below to create Sugar CRM external objects that reflect any changes in the data source. You will synchronize the definitions for the Sugar CRM external objects with the definitions for Sugar CRM tables.
After adding Sugar CRM data as an external data source and syncing Sugar CRM tables as external objects, you can use the external Sugar CRM objects just as you would standard Salesforce objects.
