Informatica provides a powerful, elegant means of transporting and transforming your data. By utilizing the CData JDBC Driver for Sybase, you are gaining access to a driver based on industry-proven standards that integrates seamlessly with Informatica's powerful data transportation and manipulation features. This tutorial shows how to transfer and browse Sybase data in Informatica PowerCenter.
To deploy the driver to the Informatica PowerCenter server, copy the CData JAR and .lic file, located in the lib subfolder in the installation directory, to the following folder: Informatica-installation-directory\services\shared\jars\thirdparty.
To work with Sybase data in the Developer tool, you will need to copy the CData JAR and .lic file, located in the lib subfolder in the installation directory, into the following folders:
Follow the steps below to connect from Informatica Developer:
cdata.jdbc.sybase.SybaseDriver
To connect to Sybase, specify the following connection properties:
Optionally, you can also secure your connections with TLS/SSL by setting UseSSL to true.
Sybase supports several methods for authentication including Password and Kerberos.
Set the AuthScheme to Password and set the following connection properties to use Sybase authentication.
To connect with LDAP authentication, configure Sybase server-side to use the LDAP authentication mechanism.
After configuring Sybase for LDAP, you can connect using the same credentials as Password authentication.
To leverage Kerberos authentication, begin by enabling it setting AuthScheme to Kerberos. See the Using Kerberos section in the Help documentation for more information on using Kerberos authentication.
You can find an example connection string below:
Server=MyServer;Port=MyPort;User=SampleUser;Password=SamplePassword;Database=MyDB;Kerberos=true;KerberosKDC=MyKDC;KerberosRealm=MYREALM.COM;KerberosSPN=server-name
For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the Sybase JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.
java -jar cdata.jdbc.sybase.jar
Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.
๐ Using the built-in connection string designer to generate a JDBC URL (Salesforce is shown.)A typical connection string is below:
jdbc:sybase:User=myuser;Password=mypassword;Server=localhost;Database=mydatabase;Charset=iso_1;
After you have added the driver JAR to the classpath and created a JDBC connection, you can now access Sybase entities in Informatica. Follow the steps below to connect to Sybase and browse Sybase tables:
You can now browse Sybase tables in the Data Viewer: Right-click the node for the table and then click Open. On the Data Viewer view, click Run.

Follow the steps below to add the Sybase source to a mapping:
Follow the steps below to map Sybase columns to a flat file:
To transfer Sybase data, right-click in the workspace and then click Run Mapping.
