The CData ODBC Driver for Telegram enables access to live data from Telegram under the ODBC standard, allowing you work with Telegram data in a wide variety of BI, reporting, and ETL tools and directly, using familiar SQL queries. This article shows how to connect to Telegram data as a generic ODBC Data Provider and create charts, reports, and dashboards based on Telegram data in Dundas BI.
Telegram uses Bot Tokens to authenticate API requests. You can obtain a Bot Token by creating a bot via BotFather on Telegram (https://t.me/BotFather). Once created, BotFather will provide a token in the format
123456789:ABCdefGhIJKlmNoPQRsTUVwxyZ.
After setting the following connection properties, you are ready to connect:
Profile=C:\profiles\Telegram.apip;ProfileSettings='APIKey=your_bot_token';
When you configure the DSN, you may also want to set the Max Rows connection property. This will limit the number of rows returned, which is especially helpful for improving performance when designing reports and visualizations.
You are now ready to create a dashboard with Telegram data.
