How to Query Live Vimeo Data in Claude Desktop

Step 1: Download and install CData MCP Server

1. To begin, navigate to https://www.cdata.com/solutions/codeassist/ and download the CData API Driver for MCP Server. 👁 Downloading the CData MCP Server installer

When the installation is complete, you are ready to configure MCP Server by connecting to Vimeo.

Step 2: Configure the connection to Vimeo

1. After installation, the MCP Server configuration wizard should open automatically. 👁 The MCP Server configuration wizard.

2. Click the dropdown menu in MCP Configuration > Configuration Name and select "
3. Name the configuration (e.g. "cdataapi") and click "OK."

   NOTE: This name is used as the name for the MCP server and as the prefix for all of the MCP Server's tools.

4. Connecting to Vimeo

   Vimeo is a professional video hosting platform. The Vimeo API uses personal access tokens (bearer tokens) to enable secure access to video metadata, user information, channels, groups, categories, and related resources.

   Using API Key Authentication

   To authenticate to the Vimeo API, you will need to provide a personal access token. To obtain your access token:

   1. Log in to your Vimeo account at https://vimeo.com
   2. Navigate to https://developer.vimeo.com/apps
   3. Create a new app or select an existing app
   4. Under "Personal Access Tokens", click "Generate" to create a new token
   5. Select the required scopes: public and private for read access
   6. Copy the generated token

   After obtaining your access token, set the following connection properties:

   • AuthScheme: Set this to APIKey.
   • APIKey: Set this to your Vimeo personal access token.

   Enter the appropriate connection properties in the configuration wizard.

With MCP Server configured, you are ready to start asking questions of your live data from Claude.

Step 3: Ask AI for answers from live Vimeo data

Now that we have installed MCP Server and configured a connection, we are ready to start with Vimeo data in Claude Desktop.

2. Now that you have connected, you can ask Claude questions about the Vimeo data. For example: "Can you give me a quantitative analysis about my closed-won opportunities by industry?"
