This article shows how to connect to Xero from Jaspersoft Studio as a standard JDBC data source with the CData JDBC Driver for Xero. You will use the standard Jaspersoft wizards to build SQL queries to Xero. The queries are executed directly to the Xero APIs, enabling real-time connectivity to Xero data.

Customers regularly integrate their Xero data with preferred tools, like Tableau, Qlik Sense, or Excel, and integrate Xero data into their database or data warehouse.
To create a JDBC data source in Jaspersoft Studio, create a data adapter:
To connect, set the Schema connection property in addition to any authentication values. Xero offers authentication for private applications, public applications, and partner applications. Set the XeroAppAuthentication property to PUBLIC, PRIVATE, or PARTNER, depending on the type of application configured. To connect from a private application, you will additionally need to set the OAuthAccessToken, OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, CertificateStoreType, CertificateStore, and CertificateStorePassword.
To connect from a public or partner application, you can use the embedded OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and CallbackURL, or you can register an app to obtain your own OAuth values.

For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the Xero JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.

This will limit the number of rows returned, which is especially helpful for improving performance when designing reports and visualizations.

Follow the steps below to build an SQL query to Xero, the basis of a simple report:
SELECT Name, SUM(QuantityOnHand) FROM Items GROUP BY Nameπ The SQL query to be used to pull data into the report. (Salesforce is shown.)
In the Preview tab, you can see the report as it would look with the current Xero data.

When retrieving the data from the remote data source, more restrictive queries, written for specific report objects, can result in faster performance.
Follow the steps below to create a new dataset to populate the chart:

After adding the dataset, follow the steps below to map column values to the chart axes in the chart wizard:
Specify the y-axis values: In the chart wizard, click the button next to the Value box. In the Expression Editor, double-click QuantityOnHand to set the expression to $F{QuantityOnHand}.
