Tableau is a visual analytics platform transforming the way businesses use data to solve problems. When paired with the CData API Driver for Tableau, you can easily get access to live Zoom data within Tableau. This article shows how to connect to Zoom in Tableau and build a simple chart.
The CData Tableau Connectors enable high-speed access to live Zoom data in Tableau. Once you install the connector, you simply authenticate with Zoom and you can immediately start building responsive, dynamic visualizations and dashboards. By surfacing Zoom data using native Tableau data types and handling complex filters, aggregations, & other operations automatically, CData Tableau Connectors grant seamless access to Zoom data.
NOTE: The CData Tableau Connectors require Tableau 2020.3 or higher. If you are using an older version of Tableau, you will need to use the CData JDBC Driver.
Open Tableau and click More under Connect -> To a Server. Select "Zoom by CData," then configure the connection and click "Sign In."
Start by setting the Profile connection property to the location of the Zoom Profile on disk (e.g. C:\profiles\Zoom.apip). Next, set the ProfileSettings connection property to the connection string for Zoom (see below).
To authenticate to Zoom, you can use the OAuth standard to connect to your own data or to allow other users to connect to their data.
First create an OAuth app. To do so, navigate to https://marketplace.zoom.us/develop/create and click Create under the OAuth section. Select whether or not the app will be for individual users or for the entire account, and uncheck the box to publish the app. Give the app a name and click Create.
