Ukraine

Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 demonstrated an assault on the country’s sovereignty and future. This pivotal moment followed the 2014 Maidan Revolution, a turning point that anchored Ukraine’s aspirations toward European integration and domestic reform, and Russia’s annexation of Crimea. Ongoing aggression and disinformation campaigns led by its former occupier have continued to challenge Ukraine’s independence and democratic trajectory, as well as broader regional stability. CSIS leads scholarship on the war in Ukraine, how it has changed the landscape of modern geopolitics and warfare, its global impacts, and Ukrainian reconstruction.
