That was helpful. Thanks!
Super helpful!!! thank you!
Thanks for writing this up! I had to add Type=forking to the systemd [Service] and change the ownership of /var/log/redis (but that may have been my configuration). Otherwise it would shut the service down immediately after starting it.
Thanks a lot, this really helped.
Excellent article. Worked perfectly. Thanks!
FYI: If you are getting start failures and no messages to the effect at all and no log yet generated as in my case, Itβs probably something in the startup chain - eg the redis.config in my case. This will allow you to test the startup directly (yet w/no systemctl hooks:
$ sudo /usr/local/bin/redis-server /etc/redis/redis.conf
Itβs maybe best instruction for redis setup. Thanks.
I cannot connect it from my laptop, using βredis-cli -h IP.ADDRS.OF.DO.SERVER -p 6379β Do I have to enable something ?
/tmp/redis-stable$ sudo make install Hint: Itβs a good idea to run βmake testβ ;)

Of course, you could always just
$ sudo apt-get install redis-server
