👁 Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic

This is the least impressive of the 3 recent SD reissues. Important to note that I don't have another pressing of Pretzel Logic to compare to, so I can only compare this to every other SD album, and this reissue sounds more compressed, less open, and... See full review

I bought a near-mint copy and the quality of this pressing exceeded my expectations. Clear, full sound with plenty of punch. Great album!

Superb, superb, superb, and more words, superb, superb. Get it.

This is certainly not a helpful review, just a rant.
👁 The National - Boxer

Fantastic album. Sadly, my pressing has a fair amount of surface noise, even after multiple cleanings.
Trouble Will Find Me is the best sounding National album I have on vinyl.

I seem to be an unlucky one...my pressing (after several cleanings) has distracting surface noise and pops.

Just purchased directly from Blue Note. Nice to have this Tone Poet back in stock. Sounds wonderful, and you can't beat the performances. Blakey lights a fire under the whole thing. His ride has a shimmer that sometimes almost sounds like distortion,... See full review

My copy is flat and quiet. Sounds really great to me. A little static between a couple of tracks and on runouts, but they don't detract from the listening experience. Excellent National album.

Vinyl sounds terrific, lovely melancholic mood on this album. A really nice listen.

How does this pressing sound? I totally agree with your assessment of the music itself. Great stuff

Lovely job by Kevin Gray / Cohearant and Optimal on this one. Flawless pressing, great clarity, and enjoyable performances. This is a winner, especially if you are a fan of jazz percussion.

Well, hell yeah! Live 1976 has no right sounding this good. If you love the Ramones - get this! A thumping adrenaline rush that sounds terrific.
👁 The Who - The Who By Numbers

I'm surprised there is only one other review at this point in 2023, 15 years after this release. Nice heavy vinyl, with very little surface noise. I don't have an alternative pressing to compare it to, but to my ear, this sounds a bit dry and thin at... See full review

Lovely remaster of this classic, but my example has too much surface noise, even after multiple cleanings.

Is this just a remaster of the same album tracks, or are these actually different recorded versions?

Agreed! Followed closely by Barstool Blues (and I'm not necessarily a Soul Asylum fan)

Frances, I clean every record before I play it, starting with a run through the Spin-Clean. Blue Note has some pressing quality control issues.
👁 R.E.M. - Murmur

I'm generally happy with this pressing. My copy has a few pops and some minor surface noise, but, overall, it sounds very good. Full, crisp...nice presentation of this terrific album.
👁 Van Morrison - Beautiful Vision

Crisp, clear, detailed, perhaps slightly lacking on the low end, but I think that is the original mix. Pressing seems fine. Just a lovely record, one of my favorites by Van.
👁 Kenny Burrell - Midnight Blue

My first copy (purchased 2021) suffered from significant surface noise. I couldn't return it, so I put it away and rarely listened to it. This week I saw Amazon (free returns) had it on sale for $16, so I bought a second copy. This one is much much... See full review

Thankfully I got lucky on my copy, minimal noise and no non-fill noted. Great set of music beautifully remastered.
👁 Bob Dylan - Street-Legal

This is a nice pressing of an underappreciated Dylan album. Had a different pressing that was trash, but this one sounds quite good to me, considering the original recording wasn't super high fidelity. Love the vibe throughout this record, one song as... See full review
👁 Van Morrison - Moondance

Really nice! Moondance is a well-known masterpiece, so no need to comment on the music. I don't have other pressings to compare, but I feel no need to try any others, as this one is a beauty. Great separation and clarity, Drums are understated in the... See full review

Found a good-condition used copy in a local shop for $7. Pressing is pretty decent, but is certainly not a sonic masterpiece. I have no other pressings for comparison, but it is a bit thin on the low end, and the high end can be harsh (but hey, it's... See full review
👁 Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman

Really nice presentation and clarity on this release. Beautiful music, heavy-duty gatefold packaging. My one complaint is there is more surface noise than I would expect, even after multiple cleanings in the Spin-Clean.
👁 Cat Stevens - Teaser And The Firecat

Nice presentation of the music on this pressing, however, my copy has a fair amount of surface noise even after repeated cleanings.

The pressings are very good quality. Not sure this really needed a box set, but that said, I'm happy to have this collection. These brief meetings of these legends produced some wonderful music, fun stuff!
👁 Bob Dylan - Rolling Thunder Revue

My goodness, this is the dirtiest new vinyl I've ever purchased. Will be a project just to listen to it...will update this once I clean it up.

OK, washed them in the Spin-Clean...this is a great set from this historic tour. The sound is a little... See full review
👁 Cannonball Adderley - Somethin' Else

I've tried 2 copies, but had issues on both, including pops and surface noise on lead in to A1, which is unacceptable. The remastering sounds amazing when it is free from defects. The packaging is disgracefully cheap (the jacket feels like heavy... See full review

This pressing was sounding really nice until the final Miles solo late on "One for Daddy-O" (B2). There is a brief zip sound, no matter how many times I clean it. Anyone else? I will return and withhold a rating for now.
Update: I received a... See full review
