Amid the suspense over the contender for Delhi CM post, some prominent newly elected BJP MLAs paid a visit to party president J P Nadda in Parliament on Tuesday.
A former councillor in the erstwhile South MCD, Satish was also chairman of the Standing Committee. In an interview with Gayathri Mani, he talks about why AAP lost, why people chose the BJP, and his priorities for the constituency.
Delhi BJP general secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal, party leader Vishakha Sailani and Girish Sachdeva have been nominated members of the municipal council, according to a gazette notification of the home ministry.
The BJP may have won in only three of the 13 municipal wards where bypolls were held, but it did get the highest voteshare among the three main parties.
The BJP leader — who released the party’s manifesto for the civic by-polls scheduled to be held on May 15 — said the party was not going to make “any lofty promises”.
He also said the BJP is giving the job on compassionate grounds as Narang was the sole breadwinner of the family and no one should politicise the issue.
The Delhi BJP has also decided to hold a meeting of the state executive committee within a week of the national executive committee, and the district executive committee meeting a week later.
"AAP ministers, MLAs and leaders of the party have tried to mislead the people of Delhi through the photo-op on Sunday," Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said.
