Episodes: 264
Seasons: 11

One of the funniest sitcoms I've ever seen. 11 seasons of consistent, hilarious quality. It is filled with characters unpolished in output and neurotic in nature, and always retains an utmost human element to it's tone.

Cheap, crappy fluff used to fill air-time. Uses lots of cheap jokes, but they make you laugh so it's ok.
VierasTalo's rating: πŸ‘ Image
Seasons: 14
Episodes: 209

A once great television show that will be remembered in history as a fantastic enterprise and example of how you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover and also about how things should end way earlier than this did.

Episodes: 105
Seasons: 5

The great return of the TV-serial. Jennifer Garner gives a very good, human and believable action performance, and the show is riddled with awesome actors from every corner. The plot twists during season 3 are crap, but overall the show is a very strong showcase of how you do a show that spans five seasons to come full circle.

Seasons: 5

Fun and entertaining, but a far cry from being as thoughtful as it wants to be. Still need to finish it.

Eh. This is a show full of great ideas but it crams itself so far up it's own ass that it consistently thwarts said ideas. Then, while retconning it's mistakes it crams those new things even further up it's ass, causing a cycle where the first half of every season is interesting build-up and the rest is... well, crap. The fourth season is consistently great though.

Fun, witty and not that annoying in 30-minute portions.
VierasTalo's rating: πŸ‘ Image

A sitcom that differentiates itself from practically all it's peers with intelligent and incredibly mean humour. The main characters are all assholes with no direction in life and we can't help but love them for this.

I've commented on this here.

A show that is funny when Jeremy Piven mocks the cultural zeitgeist but sucks when anything else is happening. The plot lines become repetitive and boring around season 3.

I would like to give this show five stars but the second season is a severe drop in quality with about 3-4 episodes matching the quality of the first one.

EDIT after S3: S3 is the best season but the ending doesn't land in particular despite being a somewhat satisfying emotional end. I really hope this isn't the series finale. Which is odd for me to say since I kinda hoped this would be a single-season show.

EDIT after S4: Best show. This show became disturbingly topical in my life during S3 and it continued to S4 and it really helped me through some shit.

A pretty damn good saturday morning cartoon show. More action packed than the Die Hard-movies and about three times more entertaining. Recycled animation and the occasional crap episode prevent it from being among the greats though.

This show has a really, really good first season. As with the Highlander-movies, there should've been only one.
VierasTalo's rating: πŸ‘ Image

Seasons: 3

A horrible show with horrible actors that never, ever stops moving. It's like a freight train out of control and you can't avert your eyes until you see it wreck. Well, except when you can't, because you get bored of the BS.

Oz is as fun to watch as it is intelligent and thought-provoking. A source of many things memorable, this is one of the shows that just keeps on giving.

A rare example of original humour. This is the TV-show someone like Wes Anderson would make.

Absolutely one of the better shows to revolve around the monster of the week concept this heavily. Still, it's monster of the week.

Episodes: 44
Seasons: 3

Great fun. Charismatic lead actor and the writing is witty and clever enough to get a positive James Bond-feel to this Miami-based actioner. Bruce Campbell never hurts either.
Episodes: 44
Seasons: 2

Nice and fun monster of the week-episodes to watch when you feel like watching Buffy but just rewatched the show so you can't be arsed to do it again.

Seasons: 4

One of the best drama shows to ever exist.

The first three seasons of this show are terrific and you need to see them and I've written about them here in Finnish: www.laajakuva.com/kaavamaisuus-vs-luottamus-eli-kuinka-paljon-rakastan-bansheeta/

The fourth season shouldn't exist and doesn't work despite individual cool touches. It's too restrained by the budget and format of only 8 episodes when the story told needed 20.

The first season of Twin Peaks is some of the finest damn tv ever. The second season is still good, but starts dragging with the absurd overtones taking over the entire show.

One of the more thoroughly thought-out and constructed pieces of modern TV. Actually has a few comprehensive themes. Love it.

EDIT: Lowered my rating to *** after S2 which wasn't good.

This show is better than any of the non-Michael Mann-Lecter films and better than the books it's based on. Beyond impressive.

watching insecure characters be insecure and occasionally acknowledge that makes for a super insecure experience watching it. You can see the seeds of future discord so clearly and it hurts. But it's still really funny so it doesn't feel like a pity party.

Too much of a pastiche to be terribly enjoyable. You can see every story beat coming a mile away. Good acting and the nailed 80s-look helps to some extent. The score ain't bad either.

Update after S2:
This just overcame it's nostalgic trappings to become a show about childhood. Also, this is like if Phantasm 1 was a bad movie but Phantasm 2 was still Phantasm 2. Just wow. Upping to 4 stars.

Update after S3:
S3 of Stranger Things was good. About as good as S2. I didn't like the first one. Glad to see it keeping up the pace of being more about fun character bits and gory horror comedy than "oh look we had this in the 80s". On that particular note though, the ending is probably the best written thing in the entirety of that series and gives a promise that I really hope they keep because damn they kinda have a mid-credits scene that already fucks it up a bit.

I really wish I wouldn't have waited this long to watch this because now when S2 hits in April I might feel inclined to watch it but I know there is no way I will be emotionally OK with it this soon after this first one. A powerful show to say the very least.

EDIT AFTER S2: Gee this show sure fell down a drain pipe huh
VierasTalo's rating: πŸ‘ Image

It took them ten fucking hours to tell the story of the first 26 pages of this comic book.

EDIT after S2: Well, at least this season went places, could've done with less moping.

Watched 1-3 eps per season except for the two listed above. They were crap so I stopped early. Ratings for the full seasons:

S9: 4Β½/5

The most adorable romcom TV show. Slightly brought down by not having an actual ending but rather a cliffhanger.

EDIT after S2: I would legit pay money to see that musical

Listing episodes and seasons of my watched TV series, according to the amount of watched episodes only (despite their different running times). Updating only entire seasons. Usually counting regular episodes of seasons and following IMDb, for example separating different Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes series and not including separate TV films even if they are sequels/prequels/in between the standard episodes.

Idea and description copied shamelessly from Wendel.
