The Dondon[1] is an enemy in Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins. These birds swoop from the top of the screen slowly before flying forward. Dondon are encountered in the Tree Zone's final stage, as well as the sole Hippo stage. A Dondon can be defeated from being stomped.

右側からまっすぐ飛んでくる。横から攻撃されるとダメージを受けるが、スピードが遅いので、恐くはない。しゃぼん玉に入っておけば、簡単に踏んづけけられるぞ。[2]

It flies straight at you from the right side. If it attacks you from the side, you will take damage, but it is not scary because of its slow speed. If you stay in the bubble ball, you can easily step on it.

Unlike most mainline Super Mario titles, Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins did not receive officially localized enemy indexes at the time of its release on the Game Boy and not all enemies are listed in its instruction booklets. Consequentially, most available non-Japanese names come from localizations of the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia.
