Andy is our chief reporter and first joined the Mirror in 1995. He was our US Editor for five years during which he covered 9/11 and won awards for his reporting of the tragedy. He has reported on most of the major news events in the last 30 years including 7/7, Grenfell, Bataclan, Columbine, Frank Sinatra's funeral and the 2000 US election. He was in Kyiv, Ukraine the night the Russia attacked in 2022 and was in Somalia after the 9/11 attacks and and his reports from inside war-torn Yemen saw him awarded Amnesty news reporter of the year in 2019. He secured a world exclusive interview with Bill Clinton in 2001 and has also interviewed, among many others, John McCain, Mike Tyson, Mother Teresa, Tim Peake and George Foreman. He has spent more recent years successfully shooting video including one at Buckingham Palace on the day Queen Elizabeth II died which was viewed 10.3 million times and another in Kyiv on the first morning of the war which had more than one million views.
