Creating an Account

If you do not have an account yet, click the person icon in the upper right corner of any page on to open the login screen. At the bottom of the login screen, click “Sign up” to create your account. You will need to enter your email address and create a password. Passwords must be at least eight characters in length.

After signing up, we will send a verification email to confirm your email address. Be sure to check your spam or junk folder if you do not see the email within a few minutes. Follow the link in the email to verify your account.

Once verified, you can log in anytime by clicking the person icon in the top right corner of the website.

Important Information for Previous MyNAP Users:

MyAcademies is the new name for what was previously called MyNAP. Your account was migrated to our new integrated platform on nationalacademies.org.

• Your email address remains the same.

• You must reset your password when you first log in to MyAcademies.

• All of your previous bookmarks, downloads, and saved content have been preserved.

To reset your password, click “Forgot Password” on the login screen and follow the instructions.

Note: MyAcademies is not the member portal for the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, or the National Academy of Medicine. Academy members should visit their respective Academy websites to access member resources.

Frequently Asked Questions

• MyNAP is now MyAcademies. We integrated account functionality into the main nationalacademies.org website to provide you with seamless access to all National Academies’ content in one place.

• No. If you had a MyNAP account, your email address and saved content were migrated to MyAcademies. However, you will need to reset your password the first time you log in.

• For security purposes, all users must reset their passwords when moving from MyNAP to MyAcademies. Click “Forgot Password” on the login screen to receive reset instructions via email.

• Anyone can browse publications without logging in. Guest download functionality is coming soon. Until then, you will need a free MyAcademies account to download publications and access features like bookmarks and personalized recommendations.

• This means there is no MyAcademies account associated with that email address. Note that subscribing to newsletters or making a purchase does not automatically create a MyAcademies account.

  To fix this, register for a new MyAcademies account and then log in.

  If you believe you should have an account, contact our Customer Service team.

• You must be logged in to MyAcademies to access these features. Click “Login” at the top right of any page.

• You can delete your account directly from your Account Settings. Navigate to your profile and select “Delete Account.”

  • Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

  • All bookmarks, download history, and saved content will be permanently removed.

• No. MyAcademies is for managing your access to publications and content from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
