Biography

John Mais served in the Army in World War I, leaving with a rank of Sergeant Major. He later competed for the American Turners, and was a member of that club for over 50 years. He was captain of the gymnastics team that won the Golden Wreath in 1930. Mais worked as a district freight agent for Southern Railway. He also served as a volunteer gymnastics coach at the University of Pennsylvania.
