A factory foreman from the Canadian province of Ontario and longtime archer, Don Jackson competed in the individual archery event at the 1972 Summer Olympics and was a medal contender until the very last day when, affected by the pressure of being one of his country’s last medal hopes of the tournament, he dropped down to sixth place. He was the Canadian champion of the International Archery Federation seven times and continued to compete nationally and internationally until shortly before his death from cancer in January 2009. A representative of the Durham Archers club, he was inducted into the Lindsay, Ontario and Kawartha Lakes Sports Halls of Fame during his lifetime.
