Biography

East German discus thrower Doris Müller was unable to make a mark in the 1960 qualifying round at the Roma Olympics. Four years later she placed 14th in Tokyo under her married name Lorenz. At the European Championships she earned a sixth place in 1958 and won the silver medal in 1962. From 1957-61 Lorenz-Müller won five consecutive East German titles. Educated as a sports teacher and scientific assistant at the Leipzig Sports High School, she was married to non-Olympian javelin thrower Günter Lorenz. From 1961-66 Lorenz-Müller was a board member of the East German Track and Field Association.
