Biography

Willibald Stanek competed in ice hockey for Austria at the 1936 and 1948 Winter Olympics. He also played internationally at the World Championships in 1934-35, 1947, and 1949, and was capped 16 times, helping them to a bronze medal in 1947. As the Worlds doubled as the European Championships in that era, he also gained the European bronze medal.

A fast-skating center, he played for multiple clubs, also with Wiener (Vienna) EV (1935-39 and 1946-68), Wiener (Vienna) EG (1940-42), and EK Engelmann Wien (Vienna) (1948-49). He was Austrian Champion in 1937, and 1947-49.
