Flowblade 2.20 is out this morning as the newest feature update to this open-source, non-linear video editing system for Linux.

With Flowblade 2.20 they have migrated to using the SDL2 abstraction layer for video playback but have been running into some native Wayland issues. They kicked off their release notes for Flowblade 2.20 by noting:
"We have now moved to SDL2 video playback for Flatpak and all systems with MLT 7.30 or higher.

Video playback for native Wayland without XWayland or for Gtk 4 (that does not support the per widget Xwindow paradigm) does not currently seem possible with SDL. Moving forward we will develop some alternative video display approach."

Flowblade 2.20 also brings sync editing improvements for enhancing the video editing workflow, a new sequence link container clips feature, preset keyframe animations, and a variety of fixes and various other enhancements throughout this free software video editor.
