The LXQt 2.4 desktop released today for joining the modern open-source desktop party alongside the likes of the recently debuted GNOME 50, KDE Plasma 6.6, and others.

LXQt 2.4 with Wayland will now have the visibility of the desktop items with a multi-screen desktop appear more consistent. With LXQt Sessions, the settings for X11 and Wayland sessions have also been separated out. LXQt on Wayland now also supports opening the main menu by adding a shortcut for "lxqt-qdbus openmenu" in the compositor settings.

LXQt on the power management side now has a separate monitor blanking timeout for both AC and battery. There were also some "useless options" removed.

LXQt's Panel meanwhile now supports a horizontal layout for its volume plug-in.

QTerminal has seen several improvements including the custom tab name behavior being improved, a new "Nord" theme, highlighting of all matches when searching, and improved highlighting code.

Lastly, xdg-desktop-portal-lxqt added an access portal with org.freedesktop.impl.portal.Access.
