Ubuntu's Launchpad Deprecating Code Imports From CVS & Subversion

Written by Michael Larabel in Ubuntu on 9 September 2025 at 09:16 AM EDT. 14 Comments
Canonical's Launchpad service that is closely aligned with the Ubuntu project is finally deprecating code imports from CVS and Subversion repositories that go through the defunct Bazaar.

Launchpad's code import functionality for automatically mirroring code from external version control systems into Launchpad is going to be retiring its CVS and Subversion import support. The main path being deprecated is the Subversion to Bazaar support. This aligns with Launchpad phasing out its Bazaar code hosting support.

After next week no new import configurations for the Subversion and CVS imports will be accepted. Then on 1 October all existing CVS to Bazaar and SVN to Bazaar imports will be shutdown.

Canonical encourages users to migrate source repositories to Git or re-configuring your Launchpad project to using Git-based importing.
