For those that have been considering the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-H GAMING WIFI7 motherboard for a high-end AMD Ryzen 9000 series desktop, sensor monitoring support will soon be working under Linux.

The ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-H GAMING WIFI7 is a top-tier desktop motherboard with two PCIe Gen 5 M.2 slots, 16 + 2 + 1 power design, WiFi 7 connectivity built-in, and other features aligned with top of stack AMD AM5 desktop motherboards. With its feature set, the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-H GAMING WIFI7 commands a ~$399 USD price tag.

For those considering it for Linux use, the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-H GAMING WIFI7 will soon have working sensor monitoring support come Linux 6.19.

This patch was queued last week into the hwmon-next code for the hardware monitoring (HWMON) subsystem for this motherboard. This gets the CPU temperature and package temperature reporting as well as the motherboard temperature, VRM temperatures, T sensor, CPU fan speed, and other hardware sensor reporting working for this board.

This patch also adds the ROG STRIX X870E-H GAMING WIFI7 to the nct6775 driver with this motherboard having a NCT6799D compatible chip accessible via ACPI.

So yet another addition to look forward to with Linux 6.19 if you have this motherboard or are considering your options for a high-end AMD Ryzen 9000 series Linux desktop build.
