Niri 26.04 is out today as the latest feature update to this scrollable-tiling Wayland compositor.

The biggest feature of Niri 26.04 is transparent window blur support. The blur support has been "the most requested niri feature by far. Our highest upvoted issue on GitHub." Now it's finally in place for windows and layer shell components to be able to request blur support using the ext-background-effect:

Various toolkits and apps like different terminals already support using ext-background-effect for blur usage.

Niri 26.04 also now supports pointer warping while scrolling, pointer support in window screencasts, various other screencasting improvements, animation enhancements, input device improvements, rendering optimizations, and GPU profiling support. Niri 26.04 also optimizes usage for older hardware such as getting old laptop/netbook support and various other refinements.
