Qt Creator 17 Released With New Default Themes

Written by Michael Larabel in Qt on 18 June 2025 at 06:07 AM EDT. 1 Comment
The Qt Creator 17 integrated development environment released today with a variety of improvements for this primarily C++/Qt focused developer IDE.

Qt Creator 17 now defaults to using the previously-introduced "2024" light and dark themes that first premiered in Qt Creator 15. These new themes were created for higher contrast and optimized spacing while now are considered good enough for the defaults.

Qt Creator 17 does bring some build changes for projects such as running configurations as part of the build configuration. There are also CMake updates and support for Python pyproject.toml handling.

Qt Creator 17 also now makes use of LLVM 20.1.3 as the pre-built binaries for its C++ handling, QML updates, and various analyzer updates.
