After being speculated that such a feature would surface the past few months, today's updated Steam Deck Client Beta from Valve introduces a battery charge limit control to help preserve the longevity of your Steam Deck's battery.

Added with today's preview/beta release of the Steam Deck Client is introducing a Battery Charge Limit Control feature within the Power area of the Settings panel.

Like with other mobile devices supporting charge limit controls, this new Steam Deck power option allows setting a maximum charge threshold for the Steam Deck. The charge can be limited to 80% for helping with the long-term battery health and quite worthwhile if you are predominantly running from a dock or AC charger connected most of the time.

The Steam Deck Beta Client today also moves some additional options to the Settings Power area and brings a few bug fixes. More details on today's beta update via SteamPowered.com.
