Sway 1.12 is out today as the newest feature release of this i3-inspired Wayland compositor powered by the wlroots library.

Sway 1.12 introduces HDR10 support when running with its Vulkan renderer option. HDR10 is the most prevalent open standard formant for HDR video content.

Sway 1.12 also introduces support for capturing individual windows, a new "--device-primaries" option to use the color primaries advertised by the display's EDID data, support for keypad slide switches, and new Wayland protocol support.

Newly supported Wayland protocols by Sway 1.12 includes color-management-v1, color-representation-v1, xdg-toplevel-tag-v1, ext-workspace-v1, and wl_fixes.

Sway 1.12 also now ships a default configuration file that ships with key bindings for playerctl, Sway no longer refuses to start on unsupported GPUs (such as the NVIDIA proprietary drivers) and instead opts for a warning message, and display managers are now officially supported for Sway start-up.
