Wine 10.8 is out today as the newest bi-weekly test release for this open-source solution to enjoy Windows games and apps on Linux. Wine is what also forms the basis of Valve's Proton for Steam Play for a great gaming experience on Linux.

Most notable with today's Wine 10.8 release is making use of user-handles in shared memory for allowing better performance. In addition to that performance improvement for user handles, Wine 10.8 also brings improvements to the TIFF image support, continued work on the PDB back-end, and various bug-fixes.

Wine 10.8 has 18 known bug fixes ranging from games like Final Fantasy XI Online to apps like Vegas Pro 14.
