The AMD fglrx 8.37.6 driver does not present any performance improvements over fglrx 8.36.5, but we weren't expecting to see any performance changes in this driver release. If you go through our past AMD/ATI driver reviews you will see that every so often the fglrx drivers will almost reach a plateau of changes and new features, followed by a time where there is lots of bug fixing and other maintenance changes before we reach another period of new features. Well, right now we are riding through one of those plateaus, but what will come next? AIGLX support? The new OpenGL driver? Radeon HD 2000 support? The much desired performance improvements? Well, you will need to stay tuned to see what features will come about later this year.

Check out the latest ATI/AMD Linux information in this 8.37.6 Phoronix Forums thread. Shortly we will finally be delivering an exclusive article on AMD's Catalyst driver development cycle exposed.
