AMD EPYC 4545P Achieves 2.24x The Performance At Half The Power Of The First EPYC CPU

With Blender scaling very well for CPU-based rendering, the 32-core / 64-thread EPYC 7601 paired with eight channel memory comes out only slightly behind the 16-core EPYC 4545P with dual channel memory. But where the EPYC 4545P remained very impressive was multiple times better performance-per-Watt.

For rendering workloads making use of AVX-512 like Intel's OSPRay, the EPYC 4545P even with half the cores/threads could deliver much greater raw performance and staggering power efficiency gains over AMD EPYC Naples.

Hopefully those engaging in demanding creator workloads have long since moved beyond first-generation AMD EPYC, but if you haven't even settling for a 65 Watt budget EPYC 4005 series processor can deliver meaningful performance upgrades and far better power efficiency.
