AMD EPYC 8004 "Siena" Shows Some Nice Linux Performance Gains Over The Past Two Years

There were some nice performance improvements observed from running this Ubuntu 25.10 + Linux 6.18 LTS kernel software stack on the AMD EPYC 8534P 64-core server.

While many won't run Ubuntu 25.10 in the enterprise for lack of Long Term Support, this look is important and relevant given how close we are to the upcoming Ubuntu 26.04 LTS in April. Barring any regressions from coming up, Ubuntu 26.04 LTS should be performing similarly or hopefully even better depending upon how the Linux 6.20~7.0 kernel plays out that is expected to be the default kernel version.

For those already having deployed the AMD EPYC 8004 series for a cost-optimized server platform or considering it, keep these latest Linux software upstream improvements in mind for further maximizing the performance potential. These gains were found with little impact to the CPU power consumption for further maximizing the performance-per-Watt.
