First up were a some of the common HPC benchmarks and right off the bat was seeing better performance on the dual AMD EPYC 9755 with Ubuntu 25.04 beta compared to Ubuntu 24.10 or Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

With the popular OpenFOAM computational fluid dynamics software, there was very significant improvements found from running Ubuntu 25.04. Ubuntu 25.04 brings the Linux 6.14 kernel upgrade now using the AMD P-State driver with Turin and while GCC 14 is still the compiler in use, there are other toolchain upgrades like the updated GNU C Library and more.

Even with larger OpenFOAM CFD test cases, Ubuntu 25.04 beta continued showing better performance than the prior Ubuntu Linux releases on this AMD EPYC 9755 2P server. The delta with some of these wins was all the more impressive considering GCC 14.2 was still the default system compiler as found in Ubuntu 24.10.

Altair's OpenRadioss software was also showing measurable improvements from running on Ubuntu 25.04 beta for this AMD EPYC 9005 series platform.
