Within some server workloads there wasn't much of a benefit out of Ubuntu 25.04 compared to 24.10 or the 24.04 LTS release.
For those dealing with disk encryption and other kernel-based crypto use, AES-XTS performance is much faster with Ubuntu 24.04's HWE stack and later thanks to all of the crypto performance optimizations made by Google's Eric Biggers over the past year. With new AVX2/AVX-512 and VAES optimized code paths and more, there are some striking improvements for AES-XTS kernel performance on modern x86_64 processors.
