Even for "simple" work like code compilation across multiple jobs to saturate the CPUs, AMD EPYC 9004 series performance was still delivering sizable generational improvements over Milan.

The core count advantage with AMD EPYC also helps and is an area where EPYC Genoa will still lead over Intel's upcoming Sapphire Rapids processors.

The new high-end Genoa processors can compile a default Linux x86_64 kernel build in less than 20 seconds!

Or building out a full kernel with all available kernel modules can be done in under two minutes.

On a performance-per-dollar basis, the EPYC Genoa results were comparable to the current Milan pricing for value if interested in a code compilation build farm / CI server.
