Exploring The Zen 5 SMT Performance With The AMD EPYC 9755 "Turin" CPU

For many HPC deployments it's common to run the CPUs with SMT disabled due to hurting the performance of some workloads as well as reducing the predictability of performance in some cases.

The Blender 3D modeling software and other renderers tend to benefit from leaving SMT enabled... Better render times and without any added CPU power consumption costs on the EPYC 9005 series.

Other renderers and oneAPI rendering toolkit software were showing the benefits well of having SMT available on the high core count AMD 5th Gen EPYC processors.

Importantly these SMT improvements while varied were not coming with any significant CPU power consumption difference.
