Early Linux 6.19 Benchmarks On AMD EPYC 9965 2P Excelling For AI & HPC Performance
Altair's OpenRadioss software was showing some significant improvements for this 5th Gen AMD EPYC dual socket server when the workloads were run on Linux 6.19 Git compared to Linux 6.18 stable.
The OpenFOAM computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software was showing some benefits too on Linux 6.19 Git.
The PostgreSQL 18 database server was showing some small gains on this AMD EPYC dual socket server under Linux 6.19 Git.
ClickHouse is looking good too on AMD EPYC.
For many applications the Linux 6.19 kernel upgrade did not equate to any substantive performance difference.
That's an initial look at Linux 6.19 on AMD EPYC 9965 2P flagship hardware. There are some nice wins in the HPC workloads while regressions around the kernel scheduler and code compilation performance are hopefully to be addressed over the weeks ahead in leading up to the early February stable debut of Linux 6.19. More Linux 6.19 kernel benchmarks coming up on Phoronix over the holidays.
