First up was stressing the RDNA 3.5 based Radeon 840M Graphics of the AMD Ryzen AI 5 340. In vkpeak tests for evaluating the Vulkan compute potential, it was quite an even race between the Windows and Linux drivers. Ubuntu 25.04 with Mesa 25.0 RADV won some of the tests by small margins while Windows 11 with AMD's proprietary Radeon Software driver stack also picked up some wins.

There is the potential for even better Linux performance too if moving to the very latest Mesa drivers and Linux kernel but for this comparison it was looking at the out-of-the-box potential on each OS.

Across different Vulkan compute workloads for focusing on pushing each operating system's Vulkan driver stack, it was healthy competition between Windows 11 and Ubuntu 25.04.
