On average for the dozens of different cross-platform/native benchmarks carried out on each operating system, Ubuntu 25.04 was around 8% faster (geo mean) than Windows 11 as shipped by HP on this OmniBook 5. The Radeon 840M GPU benchmarks were a bit of a toss-up between operating systems / drivers but healthy competition overall and itself a testament to how well the Radeon RADV open-source driver has matured in recent years. Meanwhile for the CPU performance of the Ryzen AI 5 340 across a variety of different applications, Linux continues to dominate over Microsoft Windows as we see across effectively all modern AMD platforms.

The HP OmniBook 5 with AMD Ryzen AI 5 340 continues to work well across the different ongoing Linux testing and offers quite nice performance and potential in the sub-$500 space.
