Taking AMD Ryzen AI Max Performance To The Max With Clear Linux & CachyOS
With the modern Speedometer 3 browser benchmark running on Mozilla Firefox, Clear Linux had the slight upper-hand over the other Linux distributions tested on the HP ZBook Ultra G1a. Debian 13 was in a distant last place as by default Debian ships the Firefox ESR release based on Firefox 128 where as the others were on the mucn newer Firefox 139.
Not only was Clear Linux the fastest for running the Speedometer 3 benchmark on Firefox but it was also consuming the least amount of power! Quite a surprise. (Apologies on Fedora Workstation 42 numbers lacking here due to a mistake when setting the PowerCap permissions.)
With Jetstream 2 on Firefox there was no longer any clear front-runner and just Debian in its distant last place. Interesting though was that Clear Linux was still the most energy efficient of the tested Linux distributions on this AMD Strix Halo laptop.
Across the different browser benchmarks it was quite surprising to see Clear Linux consuming the least amount of power out of the tested distributions.
