The Radeon 890M RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics have also matured a lot over the past year with the ongoing RADV enhancements in Mesa, more AMDGPU kernel graphics driver improvements, etc. I'll have a separate article out looking more closely at the AMD RDNA3/RDNA3.5 graphics performance over the past year.

When looking at the CPU power consumption across all of the different benchmarks carried out then and now, this is the breakdown. On average the CPU power consumption was up by just 0.5 Watts but with typically better performance. With the Linux 6.16 kernel and latest AMD P-State driver there was also less time spent at the highest CPU power use and all-around some nice power efficiency improvements made over the past year for Strix Point. Of course, there are the ACPI platform profile tunables and the like for those simply wanting to maximize their Strix Point laptop on Linux for the very best performance or extended battery life use, beyond the balanced default as tested then and now.

Overall AMD Strix Point continues performing great on Linux one year after launch. Some nice performance improvements and power efficiency gains while the overall hardware/driver support remains quite mature. The performance of AMD Strix Point remains fantastic with Intel's Lunar Lake competition only going up to eight cores and the only pressing competition against Strix Point is AMD's own with the incredibly fascinating and powerful Strix Halo.
