The Altair OpenRadioss software as also showing off some nice improvements on the Threadripper 7970X and 7980X using this latest Ubuntu Linux release.

For some workloads the performance was unchanged since the original testing in late 2023.

Very rare was a performance regression. SVT-AV1 was one of the few workloads showing lower performance on the newer software stack. That upset may come down to AMD P-State and/or scheduler changes with the SVT-AV1 video encode tests tending to be quite sensitive to kernel changes in these areas.

Meanwhile there were nice performance improvements found with other video encode applications when running Threadripper Zen 4 CPUs on Ubuntu 25.04.

The power efficiency improvements were also pleasant to see.
