First up was the QuantLib open-source finance modeling framework written in C++. All three Clang versions yielded binaries that were around 5% faster than GCC 13.2 as used by default on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

With the Etcpak compression benchmark the performance was similar across all tested compiler versions.

With the miniBUDE HPC software is one area where the GNU Compiler Collection was consistently yielding faster binaries on AmpereOne than Clang.

In other HPC workloads, Clang returned to being competitive on this 192-core AArch64 server.

With the simdjson JSON parsing library it failed to build on Clang 19 and newer but GCC 13.2 did maintain a slight lead over Clang 18.
