The Open-Source ATI Driver Is Becoming A Lot Faster

Warsow is also unable to run at playable frame-rates on the Mobility Radeon X1400 with any driver, but interestingly with Ubuntu 10.10 its performance was 71% faster than the Catalyst driver on an Ubuntu 10.10 stock configuration! The Git code for the kernel, Mesa, and xf86-video-ati DDX was faster than the Catalyst driver, but by just 13%. Interestingly, when the SwapBuffersWait was disabled, there was actually a performance drop in Warsow when running at 800 x 600.
When running Warsow at 1400 x 1050, the newest code (both with SwapbuffersWait enabled and disabled) produced a frame-rate higher than the Catalyst 9.3 driver did.
