With the ClickHouse database server, the Graviton3 to Graviton4 improvement was huge. Graviton4 now outperformed the Intel Xeon instance and nearly matched the AMD EPYC performance.

👁 ClickHouse benchmark with settings of 100M Rows Hits Dataset, Third Run. EPYC 9R14 r7a.16xlarge was the fastest.

Graviton4 was yielding the best performance per dollar for this database workload.

👁 PostgreSQL benchmark with settings of Scaling Factor: 100, Clients: 1000, Mode: Read Only. EPYC 9R14 r7a.16xlarge was the fastest.

👁 PostgreSQL benchmark with settings of Scaling Factor: 100, Clients: 1000, Mode: Read Only, Average Latency. EPYC 9R14 r7a.16xlarge was the fastest.

The PostgreSQL performance with Graviton4 was a huge improvement over Graviton3 and now dancing with both Intel Xeon and AMD EPYC at 64 vCPUs.

👁 RocksDB benchmark with settings of Test: Random Read. Graviton4 r8g.16xlarge was the fastest.

👁 RocksDB benchmark with settings of Test: Read While Writing. Graviton4 r8g.16xlarge was the fastest.

👁 RocksDB benchmark with settings of Test: Read Random Write Random. Graviton4 r8g.16xlarge was the fastest.

In database workloads the gains with Graviton4 were huge and matching -- or in some cases exceeding -- the expectations set by AWS.
