Clear Linux Concluding 2019 With ~7% Faster Performance For The Year, Some Open-Source Workloads Much Faster
The demanding NAS Parallel Benchmarks out of the NASA Advanced Supercomputing Division are much faster on the latest Clear Linux. These improvements appear to be due to the latest compiler stack. The only compiler flags changed on the Clear Linux side this year was dropping the "-fno-signed-zeros -fassociative-math" arguments.
The Parboil and Rodinia scientific tests were also scoring higher this year. Not bad for the aging Core i9 7980XE Skylake-X workstation.
One of the areas Clear Linux did focus on in 2019 was optimizing their Java performance, which seems to be paying off in small but measurable amounts.
