Ubuntu 25.04 vs. Fedora Workstation 42 Performance On AMD Strix Point

The Firefox web browser performance was a close race but mixed. Ubuntu 25.04 narrowly won a number of the web browser benchmarks while overall it was a close race. There was also the slight version difference based on the timing of the release updates rolling out. In any case for end-users the experience is basically the same for the overall web browser performance. The one exception is the Snap version of the Firefox as the default on Ubuntu 25.04 may take longer to start-up compared to Fedora -- primarily if you are on old/low-end hardware.

When benchmarking the performance of various packages as shipped from the respective repositories like Darktable, OpenSCAD, and RawTherapee, it was a close race. Again, not unexpected given both Linux distributions being powered by Linux 6.14 and other similar versions.

For some of the benchmarks like GNU Octave and a few OpenSCAD runs, Ubuntu 25.04 on this AMD Strix Point laptop did maintain a narrow advantage over Fedora Workstation 42.
